Selena Gomez Receives Kidney Transplant From Francia Raisa

Selena Gomez's fans have noticed that she's been away from the limelight recently. The reason for this was revealed in her Instagram post.

It has been common knowledge that Selena has been battling lupus, and part of this was her urgent need for a kidney. Her best friend, Francia Raisa, donated one of her own.

Selena mentioned, "There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis."

Not only is Selena the person who benefitted from this very generous act. Francia said on her Instagram post -- " I am beyond grateful that God would trust me with something that not only saved a life, but changed mine in the process."

As Selena herself knows that lupus is very misunderstood and sometimes taken lightly, we are glad to say that this has raised awareness to the issue.
